MEDITATION CRATE (transducer)

Kenneth Collins (Director, Scenic Designer, Lighting Designer)

An immersive sound installation that reimagines the purpose of a shipping container by transcending its utilitarian origins to offer the public a resonant sanctuary for music, introspection, and connection. Visitors become part of the sonic tapestry of the piece as sound is converted by bass shaker tactile transducers to create physical sensations that can be felt by the audience inside of the shipping container. Low-frequency audio signals create a pleasurable haven inside the industrial steel box, where individuals can immerse themselves in a harmonious interplay of sensory stimulation and personal contemplation.

MEDITATION CRATE (transducer) builds on other recent projects by Collins that integrate the contemplative arts into contemporary performance through the creation of extended-duration meditative/cultural events for the general public.
